Building facades present special challenges due to the complexities of building movement, material volume changes, moisture infiltration, and deterioration. SEI has extensive experience evaluating building façades of all types, including terra cotta, natural stone, cast stone, and glass curtain wall. Once a problem has been identified, SEI specifies methods to restore the façade’s appearance, strength and durability.
We analyze the façade assembly and the structural frame to characterize the possible causes of distress such as deterioration, excessive loading or thermal and moisture shrinkage/expansion of materials – and provide solutions for the cause of distress.
