This IRT image, taken a few days after a rain shower, clearly indicates an area of water intrusion and likely decay in the eave soffit.

Infrared cameras record the infrared radiation that is emitted from a surface, essentially recording variations in surface temperature. Minor differences in the emissivity of various materials accentuate these effects. These material properties can be used via IRT to conduct rapid structural condition assessments. While ideally suited for locating areas of water infiltration or decay, it can also be used to locate historic architectural features and identify structural systems. Sparks Engineering, Inc., uses the latest techniques to take full advantage of the capabilities of IRT and produce meaningful results.
